Highlights of 2016, Goals for 2017

Happy New Years Eve! What fun plans do you all have for tonight? Last year we welcomed 2016 in Miami which was a blast. This year we are taking it easy and celebrating in Alexandria with my fiance's family. We are going to a Greek restaurant and bringing the new year with some live Greek music, dancing, and breaking plates! FYI we are not Greek but we thought it would be fun to try something different.

Looking back at 2016, so much has happened. It is crazy how time flies by and the many lessons you learn each year. With time I have realized the importance of doing the things that make you happy. Not everyone will agree with what you want to do and that is fine. You are the only one in control of your life. People will have their opinions. At the end of the day, you do you! We live in a world where society says you need to be doing this by this age and such. Honestly, there are no deadlines. If you have always dreamed of becoming a photographer, a fashionista, a gymnast, etc but put those dreams aside because you said "no it is too late" or "what will my friends or family think of me." Well I am going to tell you, "Go for it!" Now is the time. Don't wait for tomorrow or another day. With that being said, I'll be sharing with you a a few highlights of 2016 and goals that I have for 2017.

Highlights of 2016

I went to Europe for the first time.  Ever since I was a child, it had always been a dream of mine to go to a European country especially France and Spain. Finally, this year it happened! I remember when I got to Paris, I fell in love with it. It was literally a "pinch me" moment. My fiance (at the time boyfriend) and I went for almost two weeks and we enjoyed every second there.

I bought a new car. My previous car was a gift from my parents my freshman year in college and it was such a great car. I went to Virginia Tech, therefore, my rides coming home for the holidays consisted of 4 hours. Yes, it was exhausting driving for that long. Unfortunately, with time my car started to have car issues and it was time to buy a new one. It was so hard to say goodbye to my previous car, so to make things less sad, I ended up getting the same model and same color. Now, I am paying my monthly car payments which are no fun. Oh the joys of adulting.

One of my best girl friends got engaged and named me Maid of Honor.  I remember when she asked me, I was so honored. I have never been a MOH or bridesmaid. I want her to have an amazing wedding. Cannot wait for all the celebrations that await us. Also, any advice is welcome especially since it is my first time being a MOH.
I said yes to the love of my life.  Christmas day was the most magical day of my life. It was the biggest surprise anyone had given me. He was sooo good that I never suspected anything at all. All I remember is my fiance on his knees and me saying yes (my whole body was shaking and I was weak to the knees.) A great way to end 2016.

Goals for 2017

Be more consistent with my blog posts.  Although, this coming year I have my best friends wedding to plan, my own wedding to plan, and my masters class, I still want to post at least 2 x a week. I hope to share more fashion posts this year as well.

Drink more water. I know drinking water should be an easy task but it is a bit of a struggle for me. Why? Well that's a good question. I am still trying to figure that out.  I know how important it is for our bodies but I usually just drink two cups of water a day. As a result, I'll be drinking more water this year. Perhaps, add lemon to make drinking water more interesting?

More clean eating less fatty foods. I'd like to think that I eat healthy. I rarely have junk food but when I do it is mostly on the weekends or when snackin'. I eat three times a day and snack a little here and there. I have to admit my weakness are chips. Thankfully, I found taro chips at Whole Foods and I am in love. They are so good! So to incorporate more clean eating in my life, I purchased a book which I am super excited for. I'll post my favorite dishes on my blog this coming 2017. In addition, I also follow Winnie on instagram: @winnieisbalance_ // blog: click here  and I have to admit she has been motivating me to eat healthier. Yay for clean eating!
